Garage Doors

Decorating your garage door for Christmas

Your garage door needn’t miss out on the fun this Christmas. There are many ways in which you can give your garage door a Christmassy feel and it will make your entire home look a little more festive from the outside.

The great thing about garage doors is that they’re usually very simple in style, so it’s very easy to temporarily hang lights, wooden decorations, posters and reefs and then take them down in January to find they’ve not damaged the door at all. If you are to hang lights across your garage door, make sure you do so with caution. If you rarely use your garage or if you do it’s strictly for storage, you can cover the front of the door, tying the lights to the wall, fence or posts at either side. If you do need access, then you may need to have the lights dangled away from the opening, perhaps 2 feet in front. This is easy to do if you have a garage with a porch but not so easy if you don’t have anything above the opening.

Another option for those who need regular access is to attach small wooden ribbons other wooden decorations to the garage door. Using a product like Joe’s Sticky Stuff would be perfect. It’s a temporary adhesive that can easily be peeled away without damaging the door and the decorations will be held firmly in place. Of course, you don’t have to just add decorations to the door or above the door. You can also add Christmas lighting down the side of your driveway, or perhaps even place a Santa or snowman statue beside your garage like the one pictured here. There’s so much you can do if you know what to look for and where to look for it, so start your hunt now for some festive outside decorations.
