Even though it’s not often at the top of our list of priorities, garage door maintenance is crucial to keeping them in good condition. Since many garage doors are made to last more than ten years, regular care and upkeep will prevent wear and preserve condition.
When performing any cleaning or maintenance work, it is advised that your door be closed and the power turned off to reduce the risk of injury. Here are some pointers for extending the lifespan of your electric door.
Clean/Wash Regularly
Use a bucket of warm, soapy water, a sponge, and a hose to clean the exterior of the door, just like you would with your car. Apply the same technique inside, being mindful of any dirt or debris that could block the bearings or mechanism.
Check the attachment points.
Attach points may deteriorate and loosen over time. Every few months, check these locations. The door system should have hinges, springs, pivot points, and rollers.
