Garage Doors

Secure your garage door with the best suited lock system

IT is well known that as the night draw in, crime rates go up. Unfortunately, burglars love the dark as it hides them easily, and with the darker evenings lingering over this winter period, it is important that your garage is lock adequately to stop any intruder from entering.

Choosing the right type of lock for your garage door is important, there are a few choices when it comes to garage door locks. Regular locks, such as side door bolts & deadbolt locks. This deadbolt lock style takes a considerable amount of effort to move without the key which discourages intruders from attempting to break in. Side door bolts are installed on the inside of the garage door making it much harder for the intruder to tamper with as it is not visible from the outside. These types of locks are a popular choice for homeowners.

Another type of lock is the T-handle lock, this is predominantly used on metal doors, the lock uses a cylinder-shaped key which is needed to operate the handle and is great as it is difficult to reproduce these type of keys.

If you lose keys often the maybe a T-handle lock isn’t right for you, an alternative to this is a keyless lock. This type of keyless lock is digital and used a high-security code system to operate your garage doors locking system.

Another extra security that can be added to the ‘up and over’ style garage doors is a defender, these are simply located at the bottom of the door, concreted to the base using a padlock, restricting any movement of the door.

It is also recommended for your home alarm system to be extended to cover the garage as well. As garaged are usually seen as an easy access point to any unwanted intruder.
