A garage door is a pretty essential component in a home, not just for security and access, but also for style. If you have a sectional, roller or up and over garage door that’s looking a little dirty, it could be time to clean it. Here are some top tips:
- Remove dirt and debris by cleaning your wood door with a light detergent mixed in water – not too much.
- After you finish washing, rinse the door with water and leave it to dry fully, naturally.
- If the finish is thin and beginning to erode, clean the parts of the door where the substrate is showing through together with your diluted detergent solution, then rinse your door and permit it to dry.
- Once the door is totally dry, prime the matter areas using an oil (if wood) or paint (if metal).
- Follow up with entire priming and finish coating
- If no wood substrate is showing through, you’ll only need a finish coat
